Veterans Choice Program

Program Eligibility

To be eligible for VCP, veterans must be enrolled in VA health care and meet at least one of the following criteria:

live more than 40 miles from a VA health care facility
are unable to get a VA appointment within 30 days of their preferred date/the date determined medically necessary by their physician
need to travel by air, boat, or ferry to the VA medical facility closest to their home
face an unusual or excessive burden in traveling to a VA medical facility based on geographic challenges, environmental factors, or a medical condition
have specific health care needs that warrant participation in the program
live in a state or territory without a full-service VA medical facility
